4th of July Weekend Recap

How beauty editors dress their babies in the sun before they're old enough to argue. 

 

We weren't planning on going anywhere for the long weekend, but had a last-minute change of heart when we started to get jealous of everyone heading out of town. So, Thursday night we packed up the car, strapped both kids in their seats, and drove to my parent's house in Fenwick Island, Delaware just before bedtime. The idea was that my two awesome bed-sleeper/horrible car-sleeper kids would sleep in the car since they would be so tired. In my delusional state, I even downloaded a movie onto my iPad thinking I could watch it while my two little ones slumbered peacefully. Hahaha. Um, no. While my daughter actually did sleep (miracle!), my exhausted son screamed the entire time. And I don't mean "entire time" as in "felt like the whole trip." No, literally the. entire. time. Four hours. Fun stuff.

But once we got there, things were great (and quieter!), even though--get this--I FORGOT MY BATHING SUIT. Nevertheless, we hit the beach and the pool (it was my son's first time in a pool and he loved it--total water baby), took my daughter to see a movie (her review: "Angelina Jolene was the perfect Maleficient pretender!"), and I even got to take two (two!) long, glorious naps. (Thank god for grandparents!) Then, before we knew it, the weekend was over and we had to drive back. Neither kid slept this time. WTF?
