Today I'm heading on out to the west coast, going to Palm Springs, California--for a work trip! I went there once as a kid, but barely remember it, so I'm very excited to go back. Me, and all the other beauty editors, will be staying at The Parker, which looks amazing--I've heard so many great things. (Could I Have That's babymoon recap got me especially pumped!)
I've dusted off my sandals and sundresses, downloaded season one of Orphan Black for the plane, and have left my husband a list of things he can and can't put into my daughter's school lunch every day since he'll be making them this week (for the first time...!)
Speaking of which, excited as I may be, I'm very sad to leave my kids. (I've only been away from them a handful of times and it's always tough.) Last night, my daughter was bawling, begging me not to go--it was so sad! She even asked me to cut off some of my hair and leave it with her because she "loves the texture." (I will not be doing that.) But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to some warm (actually, very warm) desert weather and the very real possibility of sleeping in to the glorious hour of...7 a.m..
Even though it's a business trip, I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have some free time, so if you've been to Palm Springs, please, please tell me if there's anything that I absolutely need to do. Favorite restaurants? Cool shops? Fun stuff? Let me know!

I'm thinking about taking a trip to Palm Springs for my birthday in January! And I've definitely been considering staying at The Parker!
