So I have a new obsession: Snapchat. I've been on it for the past few months, and I really love it. In a world where Instagram has become so carefully curated (something I'm admittedly fully guilty of on my own account), Snapchat feels refreshing. It's all about the moment, so everything feels very off-the-cuff, and since you have to do everything within the app, the photos and videos aren't perfect, they aren't overly filtered, they aren't FaceTuned. Everything feels very real.
For those not familiar with Snapchat, here's the gist: You take photos and short (ten seconds or less) videos that are looped together into a story. You can jazz them up with short bits of text, emojis, scribbles, and more. And here's the key: Everything disappears (unless you manually save it) in 24 hours.
I tend to Snap in spurts. Some days I'll snap once or twice or even not at all. Other days, I'm doing it constantly. Case in point: Christmas, where I captured the highlights of our entire day from my daughter's' early-morning wake up call to my son's marathon present opening (he would become enamored with a new toy and refuse to open anything else for hours) to both kids free-styling on their new karaoke machine to seeing Star Wars that night. I saved the whole day's worth of Snaps--you can watch it below if you'd like!
I kind of love that I have this funny and sweet record of our day. It's imperfect, it's messy, and yes, it's very real. Enjoy! [Update: It seems only the Snapchat videos are coming through in the video below when I view it, not the photos, which are appearing as gray boxes. Is that happening to you too? So weird! The videos are by far the best part though...! Definitely don't miss my daughter singing about "dropping the mic" at 1:20.]

I dont know why but snapchat terrifies me. I feel like I cant take on another social media channel.. but everyone has been talking about this one for months. Ugh. haha
I totally agree with you, I snap in spurts too! I love keeping up with my favorite bloggers and friends though.

I am not on snap chat yet. Is it crazy that I hadn't even heard of it before now? I'll have to check it out!
Omg I tried snap chat and kid you not within 30 minutes of posting my snap chat info on Twitter, yup I got the famous "dick pic" people always say happens lol.... I kinda got weirded out and deleted the app.... I'm assuming I had beginners bad luck and should give it a second try.
I've been toying around with the idea of getting on Snapchat. I think I just might come the new year!
