Gift Guide: The Best Gifts For Book Lovers

books

I'm a big book lover, and I'm sure you know one, too. In today's installment of my 2015 gift guide, I've rounded up a few fun gifts the reader in your life is sure to love.

Clockwise from top:

Frostbeard Book Lovers' Soy Candles: These cute jar candles come in creative, bookish scents like Bookstore, Old Books, Trashy Romance Novel, Gatsby's Mansion, and Reading at the Cafe.

Alphonnsine tee shirt: Totally cute with distressed boyfriend jeans or (let's be real) sweatpants.

The two BEST books I've read this year:

11/22/63 by Stephen King came highly recommended by someone who swore it was not "Stephen King-y." I have no problem with Stephen King--I used to love his books back in high school/college--but I'm just not really into horror books these days. Well, this is in no way horror--it's not even really a thriller. It's just an awesome, awesome, can't-stop-reading-it story about time travel and whether it can (or should) change history. (I don't want to give anything away--and this is not, it's in the description--but if you didn't know, the title of the book is the date JFK was shot.) Bottom line: You will not be disappointed in this book--and you will not be able to put it down.

Kitchens of the Great Midwest is my other favorite book that I read this year. I already gushed about it in this post, and as I said then, it is a fantastic book with amazing characters and a thoroughly engaging story that whips back and forth between hilarious and heartbreaking. Don't get thrown off by the title. It's not really about kitchens. It's really about people. And it's awesome. I love, love, loved it.

Neurons Not Included Jane Austen coasters: Because your English major friend needs something to set her wine glass on while she reads.

Standard Designs Literary Poster Print: This artist takes famous albums, reimagines the songs on it as books, then makes a beautiful print out of it. This one is of Bob Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks" album, but they also have Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, and lots more. Cool gift for your favorite book/vinyl freak.

Seven One Six Designs Bookworm Pillow: Because the struggle is real.

Caribou Creek Cases Library Card phone case: Your millennial friends probably won't know what this is, but your mom will.

Destination Handmade "Fuck Off, I'm Reading" book mark: 'Nuff said.

Kindle Paperwhite: I'm one of those people who has gone 100 percent digital with my reading--and I've never looked back. It felt weird for maybe five minutes, but I couldn't read any other way now. It makes it SO much easier to read anywhere and everywhere, and I love the fact that I a) can download books immediately when someone mentions something good, and b) that I always have multiple books with me without tons of weight. It's the best. Any other Kindle devotees out there??

Momo Digital "I Like Big Books And I Cannot Lie" print: Cute! And it's on sale for $2.50 right now. (What??)

That's it! What's your favorite gift idea here? And while we're on the subject of reading, tell me: What's the best book you've read recently? I'm always looking for a good one!

  2. 11/22/63 is seriously an amazing book, one of the best I've read in a while. 2 of his new books (mr. mercedes and finders keepers) are also not "stephen king-y" if you liked 11/22/63 you'd probably really like those too.
and now I reallllllly want that phone case! To be honest though, I want it all.

  3. I heard the Stephen King book is awesome. I'm not into horror and tend to stay away from King, but this one makes me curious! I'll have to check it out :) Thanks for the great list!
